Wedding Wisdom Wednesday- Plan Ahead
Before you go anywhere or do anything with your wedding, PLAN AHEAD! Talk to people that have recently planned their weddings, find out what they know, what they want to share and what they wish they hadn't done! Before meeting with each vendor, research them online and get to know what you want to ask before meeting. Going in blindly will only cost you money and waste time during your meetings! If you really want the best way to cover all your basis, start your plans with a Wedding Planner!

WWW or Wedding Wisdom Wednesday
One new feature to the blog will be WWW or Wedding Wisdom Wednesday. Each Wednesday we will feature a bit of Wedding Wisdom. This piece of advice will be from either brides, vendors or guests and will be listed as something to help make your wedding easier and your guests happier.
Today's Wedding Wisdom is-
Always inform your friends and family that you are hiring a Wedding Planner. Make sure you let your bridal party know as well. Explain to them what you are hiring the Planner for and what she/he will be doing and in charge of at your wedding. This will allow for your Planner to step into your wedding party and be included and listened to, and more importantly, respected as an important part of your day. When your closest friends and family come together they may not be welcoming or accepting of a "stranger" telling them what to do and where to go. If you give them advanced notice and explain how important your planner is, they will more than likely be just as happy to have her there as you are!

Who Really Needs a Planner- Erika & Aron
I am so glad to get started on these again. I LOVE hearing back from my clients and getting their feedback. I try to ask questions so they can give me insight on what they were thinking when they hired me and how they felt about the planning process. It seems like every planner can get the "My Planner was the best, we loved her, she's amazing" feedback, but I like a little more than that.
Erika and Aron contacted me to work as their planner, months before their wedding. They own a local business Time for Results Personal Training (in Solon, Ohio). They were an incredibly busy couple as most of our meetings were held before or immediately after a training session that they had with a client. They had little time for planning but, just like everyone else, they wanted a beautiful and special wedding. Here are just a few photos from their special day at Crystal Brook Farms.
Q: What made you decide to hire a wedding planner?
A: We hired a planner because we had a limited budget and no time to work on the details. We knew a professional would help us stick to our budget, while taking care of the details we didn't have the time to tend to.
Q: What types of things attracted you to each planner that you interviewed?
A: We were looking for a planner on the east side who knew the local vendors and who could meet with us without spending a lot of time travelling.
Q: What was something that made you NOT want to hire a particular planner and on the same note what was something you found that made you WANT to hire a certain planner?
A: We didn't want a planner that also had another job. We didn't feel that she could dedicate herself fully to us if her hours and interests were being spent elsewhere. What helped us decide on Brandi was her professionalism, her attention to detail, her accessibility, and her ability to meet us where we work. She also offered ideas on how to save money so that was an added bonus.
Q: What was the best thing your wedding planner did for you?
A: Too many things to count! Her fast follow up on ideas helped me make decisions quickly. Her knowledge of local and web based vendors was also a huge timesaver. The day of the wedding wouldn't have gone so smoothly if Brandi wasn't there taking care of absolutely everything.
Q: What was something your planner did that you would never have thought of doing?
Q: Did you feel that your wedding planner was worth the cost?
A: YES!
Q: Was there anything you would have changed about your experience with your wedding planner?
A: NO
Q: Is there any situation where you could see why a bride would NOT want a wedding planner?
A: Maybe because they think they want to control every aspect of their wedding without realizing all of the time and work involved.
Q: Any other input you have on your process with your wedding planner (me) any advice, ideas or feedback?
A: Our Wedding Planner (you) was amazing, and we will always have fond memories of our wedding day in large part b/c of her help!!!
They were a great couple to work with and if you are looking for personal training in the area
You can contact them through their site Time for Results Personal Training.

The Slow Season
Well, where do I even start. The season is slowing down and my time is freeing up. What is happening at this point though, is that people who want to get married next year, want to meet now to plan. So to consider this "slow season" is a bit of a misrepresentation of what is going on.
Wedding Shows start at the beginning of October and run through February. If you choose to market your company that way, the timing is fantastic. I'm not a fan of wedding shows for Wedding Planners. If you want a Wedding Planner you find one, but you don't just see the service and decide to invest $1000 in someone you never considered having work with you prior to a wedding show. That's just my call, they may work for others but I'm not sold. Of course, anything to get your name out is a good idea, so if you have it in the budget for your marketing, then go for it.
Clients start coming in during wedding season and keep coming through March. It seems a rush of people get engaged around Christmas/New Year's Eve so you can always expect that rush of emails/calls around your holiday time. You don't get a break when you are a Wedding Planner, usually the most important dates to other people are just as important to you. It is your call whether you'll take calls on Christmas Day to book clients though. (I'm joking, sort of)
Another fun thing during slow season is catching up on your books. That means finally logging all the miles from each appointment, event, rehearsal, networking event and lunch. It also means finally entering all of the receipts from this year. If you don't have a professional accountant, get one, this is NOT the time to figure things out on your own as there are too many "myths" about owning your own business and what you are and are not actually able to write off.
Then there is blogging. I'll finally be able to catch up on all things wedding. I've learned so many things this wedding season that I can't wait to share. I've even changed my ideas on somethings that I thought I knew everything about! That's saying a ton since I thought I knew everything about everything!
I can't wait to get started, hope you are excited to start following along again.

Free Wedding Assistance
Yes, you did read the title correctly!
Basic information on wedding planning,
referrals or even just tips and ideas are always FREE.
referrals or even just tips and ideas are always FREE.
Yes, free. Email me, call me or just leave a comment and I'm happy to help. Free vendor referral is always good for me since it allows me to give business to the great people I know in the wedding industry.
If you decide that I'm not perfect wedding planner for you I will always be happy to refer you to another planner that might be more to your liking or more in your price range. Yes, I'll even do that. (It is better to have helped someone find a great planner than it is to find out someone's wedding day was ruined by a bad one)
